Eurocalendar is a Comenius school project of the European Union. It officially started in September 2004 after the national agencies approved it. It is supposed to last for 3 years. There are partners from five European member states that participate in this project, i.e. Belgium, Slovakia, Poland, Italy and Lithuania.
Eurocalendar wants to make a calendar for the EU including public holidays, traditional celebrations and other special days.


Objectives and expected result
  1. to prepare the calendar of official holidays, traditions and school events and many important days of Europe
  2. to reflect on the holidays and explain them to other people in order to develop cultural-aesthetical abilities
  3. to become interested in and understand the way of life in European states
  4. to increase knowledge of English and other European languages
  5. to realize the differences in Europe and thus increase the feeling of unity
  6. to get to know more aspects of life in European countries


Main product
Products over 3 years
  • 1st year – printing and illustration of paper birthday calendar with celebration days of the EU countries, web page with on-line calendar. There will be links to more specialized web pages, library of pictures and photo album of celebration days and events.
  • 2nd year – printing and illustration of calendar (January-December), updating of web pages and cookery book with traditional meals, which are prepared on each celebration day
  • 3rd year – printing and illustration of calendar (January-December), updating of web pages, CD with songs typical for each holiday, report on economical research focused on the „Holidays and Business“.


Evaluation of our work
Evaluation will be realized 2 times a year, directly after the meeting of people participating in the project. To increase participation of students from ethnic and minority groups there will be holidays of following minorities included in the calendar :
